RIYADH — The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Türkiye issued a joint statement condemning the illegal Israeli decisions and measures in the occupied West Bank, warning that they threaten regional stability and undermine prospects for peace. In the statement on Monday, the ministers said the Israeli actions aim to impose “illegitimate Israeli sovereignty,” entrench settlement expansion, and create a new illegal reality in the occupied West Bank. They stressed that such measures accelerate attempts at annexation and the displacement of the Palestinian people. The ministers reaffirmed that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, warning that the continuation of the expansionist and unlawful policies would fuel further violence and instability across the region. They expressed their absolute rejection of the measures, calling them a flagrant violation of international law that undermines the two-state solution and infringes on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement declared the Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank null and void, citing clear violations of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which rejects actions aimed at altering the demographic and legal status of the occupied Palestinian territory. The ministers also referenced the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which concluded that Israel’s policies, practices, and continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory are unlawful and emphasized the need to end the occupation.Calling on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities, the ministers urged decisive action to compel Israel to halt the dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, as well as what they termed irresponsible and inflammatory statements. They concluded by stressing that fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, remains the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
