RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged people to exercise caution amid forecasts of thunderstorms continuing hitting several regions of Saudi Arabia through next Tuesday. It called on the public to remain in safe places, stay away from flood-prone areas and valleys, avoid swimming in them, and follow instructions from the concerned authorities.The National Center for Meteorology said that the Makkah region will be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall leading to flash floods, hail and downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, affecting Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in the city of Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum and Bahra.The center stated that the regions of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha will be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall leading to flash floods, hail and downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, while Madinah and Najran regions are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
