RIYADH — Land, sea, and air customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,126 seizures of prohibited items last week. The seized items include 35 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills, as well as 300 other prohibited materials. Customs ports also foiled attempts to smuggle 810 tobacco products and their derivatives, in addition to eight types of cash. This was part of the ongoing efforts of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and protect society from all forms of prohibited substances.ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to tightening customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to safeguard society and ensure its security, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partner agencies. ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling and protecting society and the national economy by reporting suspected violations through its dedicated security reporting number (1910), email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or international number (009661910). The authority receives reports of smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality. Whistleblowers are also eligible for a financial reward if the information provided in their reports is verified as correct.
