RIYADH — Maj. Nasser Al-Otaibi, spokesperson of the General Directorate of Passports, said that the directorate continues to implement its operational plan for the departure of Hajj pilgrims through all international air, land, and sea ports. He said that the Passports Directorate has introduced an advanced suite of modern technological solutions, most notably electronic gates that enable the automated processing of travel procedures with speed and ease, thereby enhancing the overall departure experience for pilgrims leaving the Kingdom. “Simultaneous electronic translation devices powered by artificial intelligence and supporting 138 languages have been deployed to facilitate effective communication with pilgrims from diverse national and linguistic backgrounds,” he said. Al-Otaibi stated that passport operations have been strengthened with highly qualified personnel deployed around the clock across various international ports, in accordance with carefully developed operational plans designed to facilitate departure procedures, ensure the smooth movement of travelers, and minimize waiting times, while upholding the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency, and security. The spokesperson also highlighted the use of “mobile counter” devices equipped with innovative digital solutions to further enhance the quality of services provided to beneficiaries at international ports of entry. These devices enable the swift and seamless completion of procedures for beneficiaries, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities, ensuring they receive services efficiently and without the need to wait.
