MAKKAH — Umrah performances by pilgrims from inside and outside Saudi Arabia exceeded 14.8 million during the month of Rajab alone, according to official statistics released by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. The figures reflect a sharp increase in Umrah activity, underscoring the efficiency of the Kingdom’s service system and the range of facilities provided to serve pilgrims. The statistics showed that more than two million Umrah performers arrived from outside the Kingdom during Rajab, representing pilgrims from across the Islamic world and beyond. The increase highlights the impact of digital facilitation measures and integrated logistical services that have streamlined travel procedures and enabled pilgrims to perform rituals with ease. Officials said the rise in Umrah numbers comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to develop the Hajj, Umrah, and visitation system, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, by facilitating access to the Two Holy Mosques and providing a comprehensive spiritual experience focused on pilgrim comfort and safety from trip planning through departure. The ministry and the authority continue to implement joint initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality within the Two Holy Mosques and across all stages of the pilgrim journey. These efforts include further development of digital and operational systems to ensure a smoother, more reassuring experience for pilgrims.
