While Galaxy S24 users have been patiently waiting for the stable One UI 7.0 update, a $110 Samsung phone already has One UI 7.0. It is the Galaxy F06 5G, and it was launched in India yesterday. This move by Samsung appears to have angered a lot of Galaxy S24 users.
The Galaxy F06 5G is the only phone besides the Galaxy S25 series that runs stable One UI 7.0. It costs just INR 9,499 (~$110) and will be available next week (February 20).
Since Samsung is thinking of releasing another One UI 7.0 beta update for the Galaxy S24 series, the devices in the lineup won't get the stable One UI 7.0 update before the launch of the Galaxy F06 5G.
Naturally, Galaxy S24 users appear angry that they still don't have access to One UI 7.0 despite spending upwards of $800, while those who are about to spend just $110 will have One UI 7.0 access earlier than them.
Earlier today, Samsung's software chief hinted at why One UI 7.0 has been delayed compared to earlier versions of One UI. They suggested that the company has been planning, preparing, and developing One UI 7.0 for the past 2-3 years.
Still, there should be no excuse from Samsung for releasing its new software to an entry-level phone before releasing it to compatible high-end devices.
The Galaxy F06 5G has a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with 800 nits brightness, a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging.
It uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a microSD card slot.
It runs Android 15 (One UI 7.0) out of the box and comes with a promise of four major Android OS updates and four years of security patches.
Samsung has equipped the phone with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 12 5G bands, Voice Focus, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port.
