According to multiple reports, Apple will launch the first iPhone with a foldable display next year. Its main competitor will be Samsung’s book-style foldable for 2026, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Well, as it turns out, there will be a lot of parity between their prices, which may drive many people towards the South Korean tech giant’s offering.
According to Barclay’s Managing Director, Tim Long, Apple will price the first iPhone with a foldable screen at $2,299. In comparison, Samsung’s latest book-style foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, costs $1,899. Samsung may launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at around the same price, making it much more affordable than the foldable iPhone.
The Galaxy Z Fold series devices already cost a lot more than non-foldable flagship-grade phones, such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That keeps many people from buying Samsung’s foldable phones. Considering that, very few people may want to spend almost 20% more money than Galaxy Z Fold and get a foldable iPhone.
Considering that the foldable iPhone that Apple will launch in 2026 will be the brand's first such offering (a first-generation device), even fewer people may prefer it at that price, as it may have issues. Apple is known for offering big upgrades in second and third-generation devices. So, people may wait for that instead.
All of these factors may push many people towards the Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, that's just our speculation. It's possible that Apple's first iPhone with a foldable display will be free from flaws and offer great value for money. In that case, people may prefer the foldable iPhone over Samsung's offering despite the higher price.
