The Galaxy S21 FE is the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the November 2024 security update. In fact, it is the first Fan Edition (FE) series smartphone to receive the update. Currently, it is available in European countries.
A new software update is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990B) in European countries, including Germany. The update comes with firmware version G990BXXSBGXJ3 and has a download size of around 357MB.
The update includes the November 2024 security patch, which fixes dozens of security loopholes discovered in the previous software version. It does not bring any new features or performance improvements. While other phones have received the improved Auto Blocker feature, the Galaxy S21 FE hasn't.
If you have a Galaxy S21 FE and live in Europe, you can now check for the update on your phone. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
You can choose to install the new update by manually flashing the new firmware file on your phone. However, to do that, you need to download the appropriate firmware file from our database and use the Odin tool on a computer running Windows OS.
If you want to upgrade from your aging Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S24 FE would be a great choice. You can watch its review in our video below.
The Galaxy S21 FE was launched in 2022 with Android 12 onboard. It received two major Android OS updates (Android 13 and Android 14) and will get two additional major updates (Android 15 and Android 16) in the future. The Android 15 update will arrive early next year.
