Samsung is almost ready to announce the new Galaxy S25 series, which should include three models as usual. So far, most leaks have targeted the Ultra variant, but the base model also got its fair share of time in the pre-release spotlight.
Below is a full recap of the most stand-out nuggets of information related to the Galaxy S25 (base) that emerged over the past few months.
Some leaks and rumors won't pan out, but many likely will. Nevertheless, we won't know with certainty what the Galaxy S25 has in store for us until Samsung's big unveiling in early 2025.
Until then, here is all we (think) we know about the Galaxy S25 so far.
The list below may be updated with more information as it emerges.
Galaxy S25 (base model): All the important leaks and rumors
- The Galaxy S25's camera rings may be thinner than the S25 Ultra's, at only 1.8mm.The chip choice for the Galaxy S25 is still in question.
- An early rumor said the S25 features a Qualcomm SoC, i.e., the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
- A different early rumor explored the possibility that the Galaxy S25 may have a MediaTek chipset. However, this seems unlikely.
- Some early information also hints at the Galaxy S25 rocking an in-house Exynos 2500 chip.
- The Galaxy S25 series may be Samsung's first with satellite connectivity for emergency calls and messages. It remains to be seen if the base model has this feature.
- Reportedly, some Galaxy S25 design bits and features take into account Samsung's next-gen XR headset. Exactly what this might mean is unclear.
- Early fan-made renders, presumably based on real dimensions, show what the base Galaxy S25 could look like.
- Galaxy S25 is reportedly codenamed “Paradigm.”
- Galaxy S25 battery will have the same 25W charging speeds as the S24.
-
Photos of unofficial Galaxy S25 screen protectors show the screen size in comparison to the other two upcoming models.
-
UWB might be coming to the base Galaxy S25 if the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
- More reports seemingly confirm that the entire Galaxy S25 series will be powered by Qualcomm chips globally. However, this remains in question (see below).
- Another Geekbench entry puts a damper on Qualcomm chip rumors. The Plus model was spotted with an Exynos SoC. If the Galaxy S25+ comes with an Exynos 2500 chip, it's a good indication the base model should, too.
