Samsung may not have anticipated that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition would become so polarizing, or even if it did, the company felt fine with going ahead with it regardless of what impression that it may leave Galaxy Z Fold 6 owners with.
A consensus seems to have developed among many who bought Samsung's top-of-the-line foldable phone. They feel that if Samsung had better hardware all along, it should have given it with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and not released a special iteration in a couple of markets that shows what they're missing out on.
We've had some rather extreme takes on the matter from some of our colleagues here at SamMobile as well. One believes that the device is basically the Galaxy Z Fold Scam Edition, because it's unfair to Galaxy Z Fold 6 owners and also because it comes with the wrong and unnecessary upgrades.
Another believes that the Galaxy Z Fold SE outshines the model its based on so much so that it feels Samsung chose the components for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 from its spare parts bin. There's substance to both observations, but this will likely be a debate that rages on for quite some time.
Our colleagues over at SamMobile TV have created a video to provide some much-needed perspective on the matter. It's worth checking out if you've also been enraged about the launch of what's perceived to be a superior version of the flagship foldable so soon after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was released.
Whichever side of the divide you find yourself on, we must remain open to the possibility of similar moves in the future from Samsung as it goes about the business of expanding its foldable lineup.
