It takes a village to keep Samsung devices secure

Samsung Project Infinity is a classified operation within the mobile division. You don't hear about it because that's how it's meant to be. They work hard to proactively stop threats in their tracks.

Project Infinity has a reconnaissance unit called the Cyber Threat Intelligence taskforce. (CTI) They work alongside the Red, Blue, and Purple teams to seek out real-world threats. These teams regularly explore the deep and dark web, where security exploits and illegally obtained user data is routinely stored, to identify and stop threats. The Red and Blue teams simulate attack and defense functions to prevent exploits from causing users' harm.

The Purple team is a special operations unit that focuses on certain critical areas. They're deployed across the globe, including in countries like Poland, Vietnam, Ukraine, and Brazil, to contain latest risks, stop hackers from harming Galaxy devices, and prevent the trade of stolen information.

Samsung's CTI is lead by Justin Choi, VP and head of Security Team at the mobile division. He has over two decades of experience in the US tech industry as an ethical hacker and cybersecurity leader.

“We closely monitor forums and marketplaces for mentions of zero-day or N-day exploits targeting Galaxy devices, as well as any leaked intelligence that could potentially serve as an entry point for system infiltration,” Choi said.

The company also leverages the expertise of the wider security community through the Samsung Mobile Security Rewards Program, offering its highest cash incentive of up to $1 million for independent operators who can provide information about critical security vulnerabilities in Samsung devices.
