Mere days before the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, more details about those phones have leaked. It is rumored that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the world's thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone when it launches on July 9, 2025.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also said to be lighter and thinner than its predecessor despite packing a bigger battery and a larger cover screen.
Tipster Setsuna Digital claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is 8.9mm thin when folded and 4.2mm thin when unfolded. The phone weighs just 215g. That makes it thinner (by 0.3mm) and lighter (by 2g) than the Vivo X Fold 5, which is currently the world's lightest and thinnest book-style foldable phone. The device reportedly has an enhanced Armor Aluminum frame and a glass-ceramic back panel.
Samsung is said to have equipped the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a 6.5-inch cover screen, an 8-inch inner (foldable) screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy processor, a 200MP primary camera, and a 10MP front-facing camera with an 100-degree field-of-view.
There is no information about the phone's official IP rating, and it would be interesting to see if Samsung can match Vivo's newest foldable in that regard.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 reportedly features a 4.1-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch primary (foldable) screen. Both displays reportedly feature a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness. The device a 1.25mm bezel around the foldable screen and a 21:9 aspect ratio.
Samsung has reportedly managed to make the Galaxy Z Flip 7 lighter (188g) and thinner (13.7mm folded and 6.5mm unfolded) than its predecessor despite packing a bigger battery (4,300mAh), which is seriously impressive considering that the phone is not expected to use the Silicon Carbon battery technology. We confirmed a few days ago that it will use the Exynos 2500 chip and 12GB RAM.
Both phones will run Android 16-based One UI 8.0 software out of the box. They will come with a promise of seven years of major Android OS and security updates. Both foldable phones also feature 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB 3.2 Type-C port, stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
