Moments ago, Samsung revealed its plans to introduce a new cryptography security feature to its smart TVs, monitors, and digital signage products in 2025. The official announcement focused on Samsung's new CryptoCore proprietary model, but more importantly, it quietly confirmed a new big Tizen OS update for smart TVs and monitors.
The fine print attached to the recent announcement states that CryptoCore will be integrated into Tizen OS 9.0 in 2025. In other words, a new big Tizen update will be available for smart TV and monitor owners next year.
Samsung confirmed this bit of exciting news about a new Tizen update quietly and very casually. Had we not read the fine print, we would have missed it.
Many people who use Samsung smart TVs from 2023 are still waiting for the Tizen 8.0 update. The latter rolled out with 2024 models earlier this year, and Samsung is now bringing it to 2023 models.
As far as we can tell, this is the first time Samsung openly acknowledged Tizen 9. It hasn't even mentioned this update during SDC24. However, an M1 (milestone, i.e., not public) Tizen 9.0 version has been around since May.

As far as availability is concerned, Samsung hasn't revealed any precise details aside from “2025,” but it is likely that the 2025 smart TV and monitor lineups will ship with Tizen 9.0.
As for older models, Samsung's new firmware policy states that smart TVs released in 2023 and later benefit from seven years of updates. In theory, this means Tizen 9.0 should become available for these devices in the future, presumably by the end of 2025.
