Samsung moves pretty slow with camera hardware upgrades, so the most obvious image quality improvement on Galaxy phones comes with improved chipset and better image processing. However, the Galaxy S25 FE might not even get that, as the upcoming phone will likely not use a newer chipset.
It was rumored a few months ago that Samsung could use the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 FE. However, it was later claimed that the Galaxy S25 FE will use the Exynos 2400 chip that was used in some Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ units. Now, it has been revealed that the Galaxy S25 FE will use the Exynos 2400e chip.
Android Authority claims that it found code from a reliable source that mentions Samsung's internal codename for the Galaxy S25 FE (R13) with the Exynos 2400e chip (S5E9945). The same code accurately mentions the codenames of previous Fan Edition smartphones and their chipsets. It has the same processor code for both, the Galaxy S24 FE (R12) and the Galaxy S25 FE (R13).
The Galaxy S23 FE, which was launched 2023, used two chipsets, one each for separate markets. In some countries, the phone used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while in others, it used the Exynos 2200. However, that won't likely be the case with the Galaxy S25 FE, as it is expected to use the Exynos 2400e in all the countries.
If the Galaxy S25 FE isn't getting a faster processor, can we really call it an upgrade over the Galaxy S24 FE? A report claimed that the upcoming Fan Edition phone will be thinner, but the actual figures weren't revealed.
