Samsung took its sweet time in releasing the stable version of One UI 7. The roll out began on April 7 in South Korea and some other markets followed by the United States on April 10. Even before it could be expanded to most countries, it emerged today that the One UI 7 release had been halted.
The company didn't provide any explanation initially, but some theories surfaced online regarding critical bugs that may have left Samsung with no other option than to pull the plug. Samsung has now come out with an explanation but it's such a word salad that it's only going to frustrate you even more.
A spokesperson for Samsung has said that the “The One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.” It doesn't clearly address the reasons behind the pause or provide any clarity as to when the roll out will resume. Staying quiet would have been better than a non-answer like this.
One of the bugs believed to be responsible for this outcome prevented some Galaxy S24 owners from unlocked their devices after updating to One UI 7.0. Samsung investigated the issue and decided that the update needed to be pulled before the fix is deployed. We also found a bug in One UI 7 Secure Folder that makes the secure Gallery app show its contents outside of the Secure Folder through auto-generated stories.
None of this reflects positively on Samsung. It took the extra time to make sure that this significant update would be good to go on day one. Such a significant oversight is inexcusable and trying to explain it in a way that simply comes off as condescending is not going to make things better.
