Samsung is expected to revamp its Galaxy foldable lineup in 2025. If rumors hold true, the company may further expand the lineup with additional models as it aims to increase overall shipments.
There's also the possibility that the company may launch a tri-folding device now that Huawei has beaten it to the punch. We may also see a more affordable variant of the Galaxy Z Flip clamshell foldable.
Based on the rumors circulating in South Korea, the tri-folding Galaxy device is expected to arrive in Q3 this year. Samsung typically launches new foldable smartphones at this time of the year anyway.
Its display size may be between 9.9 and 10-inches when unfolded. The initial production volume will reportedly be 200,000 units. This suggests that Samsung may first test the market's response to this product before opting for a bigger production run. That's effectively the same strategy that it used when the original Galaxy Fold was unveiled back in 2019.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are most certainly going to be there. One change Samsung might make to the former is the removal of the digitizer. This may allow the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to be thinner. We've already seen how this works with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition which is 12% slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung may then take a page out of Apple's book to enable S Pen support on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Lastly, the Galaxy Z Flip FE is said to be a more affordable version of the clamshell foldable. It may have the same display panel as the Galaxy Z Flip 6, an Exynos 2400 chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It's also possible that the device may have the same battery capacity and cameras as the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The foldables will be Samsung's next major mobile device launch in 2025 after it gets done with the Galaxy S25 launch at Unpacked on Wednesday. Samsung needs to reignite interest in foldables and hopefully it would be able to do that in 2025.
