At the ongoing Computex 2025 expo in Taiwan, MSI announced two new monitors—MAG 271QR X50 and MAG 272QP X50—that use Samsung's newest QD-OLED panels for higher brightness and refresh rate. One of those monitors also uses a camera sensor and AI to detect humans and save power and wear-and-tear.
Both new monitors from MSI feature third-generation 27-inch 10-bit QD-OLED panels from Samsung. However, the MSI MAG 271QR X50 is the world's first 2K QD-OLED monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate. Its WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution offers twice the pixel density of Full HD resolution monitors in the same size. It also features a 0.03ms response time and HDR. It also has DisplayHDR True Black 500 and VESA ClearMR 21000 certifications.
It features an AI Care Sensor that combined with the onboard NPU and the camera sensor detects humans to save power and improve the monitor's display panel life span. It captures images every 0.2 seconds for real-time human and human-form detection. Depending on that information, it can dynamically adjust the monitor's settings to improve power efficiency or turn the screen off completely to reduce pixel burn-in.
The MSI MAG 272QP X50 lacks that NPU and camera sensor, so it doesn't have human detection. But the rest of the hardware is the same among both monitors. Both models feature a 16:9 aspect ratio, 1.07 billion colors, 500 nits brightness on a 10% window size, and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness with a 3% window size.
They both feature two HDMI 2.1 ports (with HDMI CEC), one DisplayPort 1.4a port, one USB Type-C port with 15W USB PD power output, one 3.5mm audio output port, and anti-reflection coating. They have a stand that is capable of height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments. Both models come with a 3-year warranty against the pixel burn-in issue.
