A few weeks ago, Samsung unveiled its first extended reality (XR) headset prototype called Project Moohan. It said the company is working on new XR experiences with the help of Google's Android XR operating system. Samsung mentioned its Project Moohan XR headset in passing during the keynote.
Today, after announcing the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung teased its first XR headset by showcasing it in the press area.
It runs Android XR, which offers spatial computing. Apps appear in large windows in front of your eyes, and you can control them using your fingers. The headset potentially has two ultra-high-resolution OLEDoS screens with a high refresh rate.
Based on similar products, the new XR headset will likely have multiple cameras to record your eye and hand movements alongside your surroundings. Your surroundings are relayed to you with low latency so that you feel free to walk around.
The headset may use Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, which has a six-core CPU (up to 2.4GHz), an Adreno GPU, and an ISP that can handle 12 cameras concurrently. The device has 16GB RAM, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7.
While Samsung didn't reveal when exactly it plans to launch its new XR headset, it is possible that the headset will go on sale before the end of this year. It will likely be priced quite high (likely upwards of $2,000), and the launch could be limited to a few countries at first.
