The Galaxy S25 series brought support for video recording in logarithmic (LOG) profile to Samsung's flagship phones. This capability is currently available on the rear camera setup only, but new information suggests that this may change in the near future.
It appears that Samsung may bring the ability to record video in LOG profile to the front camera on the Galaxy S25 series. This feature could be released through a coming firmware update.
The LOG video profile delivers increased detail and a better dynamic range compared to the standard recording profile, making it suitable for content creators and other professionals who want that level of detail.
Videos recorded in LOG profile have a flat color profile, meaning that the video will appear dull and washed out, which is by design. It provides users the flexibility to make necessary changes during post-production. If you're not going to do any of that, just stick to recording video in the standard profile.
As per information circulating on X, Samsung will soon bring LOG video recording to the front camera on the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung only needs to send out a firmware update to enable this, so it's likely that we may see this landing on the device in the next monthly update.
The One UI 7 update also brought the LOG video recording for the rear camera on the Galaxy S24 series. So if the current flagship lineup gets it on the selfie camera as well, there's a good chance that we may see it trickle down to older devices in the near future.
