The One UI 7.0 beta program officially launched in early December, a few months later than when fans usually expect to get access to the beta version of the next One UI and Android update on their Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung is taking it slow for various reasons, including the fact that One UI 7 is an ambitious undertaking that substantially changes the user interface on Galaxy devices. The One UI 6 update—the stable version, not beta—had reached at least two dozen devices by this time last year, while One UI 7 is still in beta and only available for Samsung's latest Galaxy S flagship.
With just a few days to go before we ring in the new year, should you expect to get the One UI 7 beta update on a Galaxy smartphone that isn't a Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, or Galaxy S24 Ultra before January?
You shouldn't. Rumors had already suggested the One UI 7 beta program would only go live for the Galaxy S24 series in 2024, and we got more evidence for the same when Samsung started rolling out the usual monthly security update to devices like the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 a couple of weeks back.
The One UI 7 beta program has only just begun. As of December 24, Samsung has only released two beta updates for the Galaxy S24 lineup, and while Samsung customer support told users that two more are scheduled to arrive before the end of the year, the festivities during the final week of the month may affect the company's plans.
