Currently, Samsung is the only well-known brand offering 200MP camera sensors for smartphones. Many phone manufacturers, especially Chinese, have been using them extensively. With that, the South Korean tech giant has been enjoying a monopoly in the segment. Well, it will soon have a competitor from Japan and that's Sony.
According to Digital Chat Station, Sony is developing a 200MP camera sensor for phones. What’s interesting is that it will reportedly have a size larger than those from Samsung (the largest one from Samsung measures 1/1.3-inch). If that turns out to be true, Samsung’s ISOCELL 200MP cameras will no longer be competitive in the market.
The tipster says that Sony will use it for the main cameras on its flagship smartphones, which will arrive later this year. The Japanese company will most likely sell it to other brands too. With Chinese brands consistently hunting for new technology, they might ditch Samsung’s ISOCELL 200MP cameras for one from Sony if it is more advanced.
If Samsung wants to remain competitive in the 200MP camera sensor market, it will soon have to launch new models with a larger sensor size. If you too are planning to get a phone with a 200MP sensor, you should take a look at the Galaxy S25 Ultra. You can click on the link below to get the best deal on it.
