NEW YORK — On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Economic and Development Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi attended on Saturday the joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jerusalem. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.During the meeting, participants reviewed the latest developments in Jerusalem and underscored the vital importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo of the city and its holy sites. They rejected all practices aimed at altering Jerusalem's Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity. The meeting called for an immediate halt to ongoing Israeli violations against holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.The session also addressed mechanisms to enhance joint Arab and Islamic action to safeguard Jerusalem and uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Participants further stressed the need for the international community and the UN Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities by protecting holy sites and enforcing international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
