La franchise culte Need for Speed pourrait bien freiner des quatre disques. D'après Matthew Everingham, un photographe qui officiait pour Speedhunters, un site dédié à la culture automobile (et financé par EA), Electronic Arts aurait "mis sur le côté" la saga. En clair : la série serait garée, au moins pour un temps. Et comme un malheur n'arrive jamais seul, Speedhunters, vitrine de cette culture, cesserait également ses activités pour l'instant. L'éditeur n'a encore rien officialisé, mais plusieurs signaux internes ne trompent pas sur l'avenir incertain de la série.
