RIYADH — The Ministry of Health has recorded an increase in respiratory infections coinciding with the start of the virus season, noting that the rise falls within expected levels. The ministry urged eligible groups to receive recommended vaccines, including those against seasonal influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), by booking an appointment through the Sehhaty application, as they help reduce the risk of severe infection and its complications. The ministry said intensive care admissions related to respiratory infections rose by approximately 30 percent over the past three weeks compared with the previous period, coinciding with heightened activity of several viruses during the season. It stressed the importance of strengthening prevention by maintaining hand hygiene, following proper coughing and sneezing etiquette, ventilating enclosed spaces, wearing masks, and reducing contact with others when respiratory symptoms appear, to protect public health and limit the spread of infection. The ministry continues its efforts, in coordination with health-sector entities, to promote preventive care and raise health awareness, helping protect the safety and well-being of community members and improve their quality of life.
