NEW DELHI — The Second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held in New Delhi on Saturday, discussed the ways to further strengthen political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two sides. On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Deputy Minister for Multilateral International Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, headed Saudi Arabia’s delegation that attended the meeting.Saudi Ambassador to India Haitham Al-Maliki and Director of the Arab League Department Counselor Emad Elias also attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that taking forward the “comprehensive plan” to end the Gaza conflict is a “widely shared priority.” Jaishankar said the meeting is taking place at an "important juncture when the global order is undergoing transformation for a variety of reasons." “Nowhere is this more apparent than in West Asia or the Middle East, where the landscape itself has undergone a dramatic change in the last year. The situation in Gaza, in particular, has been the focus for the international community,” he said. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said he was “delighted” to receive the foreign ministers and delegations of the Arab League on Saturday. “The Arab world is a part of India’s extended neighborhood, linked by deep civilizational bonds, vibrant people-to-people connections and enduring brotherly ties, as well as a shared commitment to peace, progress and stability,” Modi said in a statement on his X account.
