Brutalement, 400 000 stations météo La Crosse Technology sont devenues quasi inutiles en France. La cause est un conflit commercial suite à la liquidation judiciaire de l'opérateur du réseau Star Météo, qui transmettait les données. Le repreneur a coupé le signal, rendant ces appareils, vendus entre 2007 et 2021, incapables de recevoir les prévisions et transformant un achat durable en obsolescence forcée.
