La NASA lancera fin 2028 le SR-1 Freedom, un vaisseau à propulsion nucléaire dirigé vers la planète rouge. Ce projet à 2,1 milliards de dollars transportera trois hélicoptères SkyFall pour cartographier les sources d'eau. Le vaisseau recycle des composants d'une ancienne station lunaire pour réduire ses coûts d'ingénierie.
