JEDDAH — Heavy rain showers are forecast to persist over parts of the Jazan, Asir, and Al Baha regions until Thursday, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). The NCM’s report is based on the Saudi Numerical Model. Starting Monday afternoon, light to moderate rainfall will be scattered across the southern and northern parts of the Asir region, with rain concentrated around the regional capital, Abha. Rainfall over southern Asir and around Abha will then intensify before weakening and disappearing by early evening. On Tuesday afternoon, light rain will return to the southern and northern parts of Asir and the eastern parts of Jazan. Rainfall in those areas will intensify slightly, particularly in southern Asir and eastern Jazan, while some light to moderate rain is expected in southern Al Baha before easing and disappearing by early evening. On Wednesday afternoon, light rain will return to eastern Jazan, covering much of its eastern border and southern Al Baha, before weakening and gradually dissipating by evening. Thursday afternoon will see light showers over southern Asir and a small area in the western part of the region. Rainfall will begin to intensify by early evening in those areas, with light rain also developing in southern Jazan. Rainfall will be concentrated along the border between Asir and Jazan before gradually weakening and disappearing completely later in the evening.
