GENEVA — Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the blatant and cowardly Iranian attacks that targeted the Riyadh region and the Eastern Province, considering them attacks that cannot be justified under any pretext or circumstances. Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, called on the international community to strongly condemn and denounce these attacks, given their serious repercussions for regional and international peace. He made the remarks while attending the general debate at the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Bin Khothaila also denounced strongly the brutal Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan, in flagrant violation of the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, and in clear contravention of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. “These attacks targeted civilian facilities and residential areas, threatening the security, safety, and lives of citizens and residents, which constitutes a grave breach of the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and undermines the foundations of security and stability in the region,” he said while affirming that Saudi Arabia will take all necessary measures to defend its security and safeguard its sovereignty and stability, in addition to protecting its citizens, and residents.
