RIYADH — Saudi Arabia welcomed the adoption of the resolution concerning Syria by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the subsequent conclusion of the Board’s consideration of the item on the implementation of the safeguards agreement in Syria.This follows the positive developments witnessed in the Syrian file and the cooperation demonstrated by Syria with the IAEA. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The Kingdom expresses its appreciation to all member states of the IAEA Board of Governors for reaching full consensus on the resolution submitted by the member states of the Board of Governors: Saudi Arabia, Chair of the Arab Group in Vienna; Jordan; Egypt; and Morocco. This reflects support for the positive developments witnessed in the Syrian file.” Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for Syria and for all efforts and steps aimed at strengthening its security, stability and sovereignty, and supporting its national institutions, in a manner that contributes to achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for a future prevailing security, stability and prosperity.
