RIYADH — Saudi Border Guard seized more than 2.6 million tablets subject to medical circulation regulations, over 900,000 amphetamine tablets, 138 tons of khat and 2.8 tons of hashish in operations across several regions. The seizures — which included 2,695,731 tablets subject to medical circulation regulations, 942,485 amphetamine tablets, 138 tons of khat and 2.8 tons of hashish — occurred across Tabuk, Jazan, Asir and Najran. Border Guard patrols in the four regions foiled attempts to smuggle the narcotics and arrested the smugglers. Authorities said the suspects were arrested, preliminary legal procedures were completed, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution. Authorities urged the public to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, 999 in the rest of the Kingdom, 994 for the Border Guard, or 995 for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. Reports can also be submitted via email at 995@gdnc.gov.sa. Authorities reiterated that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and that informants bear no responsibility.
