Un lycéen britannique de 16 ans, Jared Lepora, a créé une main robotique entièrement en LEGO. Inspirée de la recherche italienne (Pisa/IIT SoftHand) et guidée par son père chercheur, sa création atteint 90% des performances d'un modèle de laboratoire. Le projet, open-source, démontre que la robotique avancée peut être enseignée avec des pièces grand public.
