There have been rumors about Samsung considering dropping the Plus model from the Galaxy S phone series. Last month, it was rumored that the Galaxy S26 Edge will succeed the Galaxy S25+ next year. Now, another report claims the same thing, so it seems more likely to happen.
According to a report from ETNews, Samsung is making changes to the Galaxy S series for next year. The Galaxy S26 series will reportedly feature three models: Galaxy S26 (Pro?), Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The company has reportedly requested its suppliers to prepare for the mass production of components needed for the Galaxy S26 Edge and told that there won't be a Galaxy S26+ next year.
The Plus model in the Galaxy S series has been the lowest-selling model for the past few years. For example, during the Galaxy S25 series pre-order period earlier this year, the Galaxy S25+ model accounted for just 22% of pre-orders, while the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for 52% and 26% of pre-orders, respectively. So, Samsung was keen on replacing the Plus model with something more exciting.

Recent reports indicate that the Galaxy S26 Edge will feature a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to feature either the 2nm Exynos 2600 chip or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chip, 12GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB storage. The phone is expected to have a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 12MP selfie camera.
The phone will be launched early next year and will have a 4,400mAh battery and 45W fast charging. It isn't clear if it will feature a titanium frame like the Galaxy S25 Edge or Advanced Armor Aluminum frame like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It will likely have an IP68-rated design for dust and water resistance.
Other features that we can expect from the Galaxy S26 Edge include an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, 5G connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB, NFC (with an additional antenna at the top), and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. It will likely have Samsung Pay, Samsung DeX, and Qi2 or Qi2 Ready certification.
