Samsung's massive One UI 7 update introduces numerous functionality and aesthetic changes, big and small. You may not even notice some of the more obscure One UI 7 changes at first, but you might feel like something's not quite how it used to be while using the new update.
A perfect example is how the Bluetooth and alarm clock icons (and likely others) are seemingly missing from the One UI 7 status bar. This is not a bug. It's a conscious design choice.
In fact, these icons are not always missing from the status bar. They're merely hidden in most situations but show up when users pull down the notification or quick panels. Here are a couple of screenshots demonstrating this design.
Wondering why it works the way it does in One UI 7? Samsung explained. The UX_Team Manager moderator on the official Community forums revealed the design philosophy behind this One UI 7 change.
According to Samsung, One UI 7 aims to streamline the experience in a way that puts the most relevant bits of information in focus. Always having the Bluetooth or alarm clock icon in the status bar doesn't help much and clutters the UI.
Of course, removing these status bar icons altogether wouldn't have made much sense either, so the design team found the middle ground. In One UI 7, these icons show up when you're looking for them. They are otherwise hidden from view to leave room on the status bar for other more important bits of information — or at least to contribute to a cleaner look.
One UI 7 is available out of the box for devices such as the Galaxy S25 series, the latest Galaxy A (2025) phones, and the Galaxy Tab S10 FE tablets. The stable update also rolled out on the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 last week but was halted due to unconfirmed issues. The rollout is still on hold as of this writing but should resume eventually.
