Fostering healthy digital habits and ensuring that their child is protected from potentially harmful content or interactions online is an integral part of parenting in the digital age. That's why you'll find parental control and other features on smartphones that help in that objective.
US-based Troomi has created its own fork of Android for kid-friendly phones. It's available on select Samsung devices, and the company has now announced the launch of Samsung's latest Galaxy A16 with Troomi OS.
Troomi OS isn't just another Android ROM. It's a custom Android fork that provides enhanced parental control features, safety settings and a curated app ecosystem that aims to limit kids' access to potentially harmful content.
It also lets parents block specific apps and content to safeguard their children. Parents can access a web-based portal to monitor calls, messages, screen time, and usage reports in real-time. It works with any phone that parents may have. They can also select what websites, contacts, messaging, calling, and other features the child can access on their device.
Social media is excluded entirely from Troomi OS, and it also prevents exposure to harmful content. Parents have real-time visibility and control of their child's device from any phone. AI content filtering works in the background to block potentially harmful texts and images, and also alerts parents when their attention is required.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A16 in the United States a few months ago. Troomi has now started selling the device with its Android fork in the US, for $199.
