Everyone and their mother is waiting for One UI 7 to drop, and while Samsung is busy working on that huge update, the company is also ensuring the latest security update reaches as many devices as possible in the meantime.
This week, the Galaxy A53 is joining the list of devices that have received the March 2025 security update. The update is rolling out in some South and North American countries, including Bolivia, Peru, and Mexico. It will take a few days for the update to become more widely available.
You can identify the update by the build number A536EXXSDEYBD and download it over the air from your phone's Settings » Software update menu. The latest firmware is available through our firmware archive as well; you can also use the archive to find out which countries have received the update.
Upgrade for cheap
The March 2025 security patch for Galaxy devices fixes 58 security flaws discovered in the previous software. 51 of those fixes come from Google and the rest are provided by Samsung. More details on the patch are available here.
In addition to the March 2025 security update, Galaxy A53 owners can look forward to the One UI 7 (Android 15) update in the coming months. The official One UI 7 rollout will start on April 7 for select flagships, and while Samsung has offered no timeline for mid-range devices, we expect them to get the update sometime in May.
Android 15 will be the third major OS upgrade for the Galaxy A53. The device is eligible for a total of four such upgrades, and once it has exhausted those, it will continue to get security updates for at least another year.
