The Galaxy S25 isn't the only smartphone series that Samsung plans to launch in the first quarter of this year. It is also looking to bring the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56. The Galaxy A56, despite being a mid-ranger, matches the Galaxy S25 Ultra's battery and charging speed.

The unannounced Galaxy A56, bearing model number SM-A5660, has been spotted in the MIIT certification. It is a variant of the smartphone made for the Chinese market. The certification reveals that the Galaxy A56 is powered by a 4,905mAh battery. This is the battery's rated capacity, and the marketed capacity will likely be 5,000mAh.

The Galaxy A56 will also match the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 45W fast wired charging feature. So, at least with regards to the battery and charging speed, Samsung's upcoming mid-range and flagship phones will be similar.

The upcoming mid-ranger from Samsung also supports 5G (NR SA/NSA), 4G (TD-LTE, FDD LTE), 3G (WCDMA), and 2G (GSM) networks. It has a dual-SIM card slot (with dual standby) and runs Android 15 (One UI 7), according to the certification database. It also has Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6E.

It will reportedly have a 50MP primary camera (with OIS), a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 12MP front-facing camera. While its new processor is capable of handling 4K 60fps video recording, it isn't clear if Samsung will offer that feature on the Galaxy A56.

The chipset in question is the Exynos 1580, which was announced a few months ago. It is a 4nm chip with one Cortex-A720 CPU core clocked at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 CPU cores clocked at 1.95GHz. It has the Xclipse 540 GPU with RDNA 3 architecture.

Similar to the Galaxy A55, the Galaxy A56 will likely have a metal frame, toughened glass protection on the front and the rear, an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and stereo speakers. It will likely also get at least six major Android OS updates.

All in all, the Galaxy A56 is turning out to be an excellent mid-range phone, thanks to its high-performance chip, 120Hz OLED screen, improved cameras, faster charging, big battery, and long software update support.

The only thing Samsung needs to take care of will be the bezel around the screen. Usually, the bezels are uneven on Galaxy A series phones, and the company needs to solve it by trimming those and making the bezels even on all sides of the screen.
