At CES 2025, Nvidia revealed the RTX 50 Series GPUs. They offer significant performance upgrades over the previous models, and a hefty portion of those improvements come from DLSS 4, the brand's latest frame rate and picture-enhancing technology. But it isn’t just relevant for buyers of the new graphics cards, it is also relevant for owners of Samsung's Galaxy Book 3 Ultra and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, which use RTX 40 Series GPUs, as well as RTX 40, RTX 30, and RTX 20 series owners.
Nvidia has announced that it will offer DLSS 4 to all the previous RTX series GPUs. That means Samsung’s Galaxy Book 3 Ultra and the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, which use RTX 40 Series GPUs, will also benefit from it. However, there’s a catch. Not all features of DLSS 4 are coming to them.
DLSS 4 has five major elements. The first is DLSS Multi Frame Generation, which is a completely new feature. The other four are improved versions of DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA). All these combined offer up to eight times more frames compared to brute-force rendering (generating frames without the help of these technologies).
The story continues after the video…
Now, the RTX 40 Series will get all but one feature of DLSS 4, which is DLSS Multi Frame Generation. At the moment, there’s no information about how much performance uplift the remaining four will offer but expect to see better graphics on your Galaxy Book 3 Ultra and the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra soon.
The RTX 30 Series and RTX 20 Series will get three of DLSS 4's five features: DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA). You can check them out in the image above. Unfortunately, Nvidia hasn’t revealed when it will offer DLSS 4 to older models.
