Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S21 FE. While it isn't the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update that you've been waiting for, it is something that improves your phone's security. It brings the January 2025 security patch to the device.
The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE has started getting a new software update in the USA. It comes with firmware version G990USQSEGXL4 and brings the January 2025 security patch to the device. This security patch fixes dozens of security loopholes that were discovered in the previous software.
If you have a Galaxy S21 FE and live in the USA, you can now check for the new update on your device. The update is currently available on AT&T and Dish Wireless networks in the country.
You can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
Alternatively, you can download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually. You need to be well-versed with the manual process, though. Otherwise, you could end up with a bricked device.

The Galaxy S21 FE was launched with Android 12 onboard and came with a promise of four major Android OS updates.
It is currently running Android 14 (One UI 6.1) and will likely get the Android 15 (One UI 7.0) update in the next 2-3 months. Android 16 will be its last update, which could come by this year's end.
