Samsung's next-generation flagship smartphone has cleared one more hurdle on its way to the official announcement. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has been certified by NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission), which is Thailand's testing and certification body for mobile phones and other telecommunication devices.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra cleared the NBTC certification in Thailand earlier today, and it reveals that the phone is manufactured in South Korea. The device's model number is SM-S928B/DS, which refers to the global model of the phone with a dual-SIM card slot. It also reveals that the upcoming smartphone features 5G, 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G support. Since the phone has already received several certifications, it is clear that it is almost ready to launch.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra's design was leaked last week through hands-on images. The phone has a 6.8-inch screen with an almost flat surface and up to 2,500 nits peak brightness. It is rumored to come in a variant that has a titanium frame. It is also expected to feature an IP68 rating, stereo speakers, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader. The phone will come equipped exclusively with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, and up to 1TB storage.
The phone has a 200MP primary rear camera with a slightly newer sensor compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is also rumored to feature a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP selfie camera. It has a 5,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Samsung is expected to equip the phone with plenty of AI and Generative AI features.
It could also have a two-way satellite communication system that can be used to send and receive text messages in emergency situations where a cellular network isn't available in the area. Other features could include GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, Samsung Pay, and Wireless DeX. It could launch with Android 14 out of the box and a promise of at least four major Android OS updates.
