The Galaxy S25 Ultra may look similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra from afar, but pay closer attention, and you'll notice that the design language has fundamentally changed to align more with the rest of the S series.
Samsung's new Ultra flagship phone is no longer square. Its frame is entirely flat. And the camera rings have a new design. The phone looks more refined.
However, the latter design element, i.e., the camera rings, might not be without fault. Galaxy S25 Ultra users might have to spend a bit of extra time to keep their phones clean.
Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the faces of the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera rings are slightly ridged. That's not all that surprising, but what's unique to the Galaxy S25 Ultra is that each ring has an asymmetric shape we've never seen on a Samsung phone.
From a profile view, each of the three main camera rings has a smaller diameter at the bottom (near the back panel) and a thicker lip with a larger diameter at the top. The camera rings almost look like protruding pipe ends.
Although this design element undoubtedly gives the Galaxy S25 Ultra a unique aesthetic, the camera rings look difficult to clean.
Bluntly speaking, the Galaxy S25 Ultra camera rings might turn out to be dirt and lint magnets. Small foreign objects could easily get stuck between the back panel and the raised camera ring lips, and cleaning the Galaxy S25 Ultra to keep it pristine might take a bit more care and attention than usual.
If you think slapping a case on the Galaxy S25 Ultra will avoid this inconvenience, think again. From what we've seen, most (if not all) Galaxy S25 Ultra cases have a single elongated camera cutout that surrounds all three main cameras.
So, even with a case on, there's still enough room for lint and dirt to sneak by and find a place between the phone's back panel and the upper camera rings.
All in all, the Galaxy S25 Ultra looks unique, modern, and refined. But the downside is that it might require a bit more maintenance from users who'll want to keep it looking like new in the long run. Of course, none of this should be a deal breaker, but it is something you may want to be aware of before you buy the new Ultra.
