Recently, the European Union introduced a rule that brands should offer a label for their phones that shows their energy efficiency, battery life and longevity, durability against drops, IP rating for water and dust resistance, and repairability scores. Well, Samsung has made that label for its upcoming device with a book-style foldable display, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which reveals the key details about the device days before the launch.
According to the EPREL label, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will last 40 hours and 28 minutes on a single charge and retain at least 80% of its rated capacity till 2,000 charge cycles. The label says that the phone has IP48 dust and water resistance, which is the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, an A-rated durability against drops and C rating for repairability. Furthermore, it says that the phone has class B energy efficiency (via @MysteryLupin).
According to various leaks and rumours, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is significantly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Despite that, it has a Class A free fall reliability and Class C repairability, which is very impressive. What is not impressive is that phone has the same IP rating as its predecessor, which means that it isn’t the best in the segment as Vivo’s latest smartphone with a book-style foldable display, the X Fold 5, has an IP59 dust and water resistance rating.
These labels also have a QR code at the top-right corner. Scanning them takes you to a page that reveals more details about the device. Unfortunately, scanning the QR code on the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s label doesn’t show any of those details. Instead, it says “The model you are searching for cannot be found in our database.” It further states “it may be a delay up to 72 hours between the date the model is placed on the market and its information being accessible in this site.”
