Honor, an ex-Huawei subsidiary, is having a bit of fun at Samsung's expense. The Korean giant unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this week. It's one of the thinnest phones yet from Samsung, measuring just 5.8mm.
The Chinese brand is chalking that up as a compromise, though, comparing the Galaxy S25 Edge against the Magic V3 foldable which measures 4.35mm when unfolded.
Launched in July last year, the Honor Magic V3 is a book-style foldable like the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and has a 5,150mAh battery compared to the Edge's 3,900mAh cell.
“Thin without the catch,” is how Honor pokes fun at the Galaxy S25 Edge with the Magic V3. It's implying that Honor is already offering a foldable phone that's thinner, when unfolded, compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge.
It's obviously not a straight comparison between the two devices, the form factors are different, which is probably why Honor neglected to mention that its device weighs a chunky 226g while the Galaxy S25 Edge weighs considerably less at just 163g. Samsung's device also has a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.
Samsung will likely take this in its stride, given that the company itself made fun of Apple in the very first Galaxy S25 Edge ads. Recent reports have suggested that Honor may soon come out with a direct competitor to the Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple already has an iPhone 17 Air in the pipeline. So expect more of these jabs to fly as the slim phone race heats up.
