What started as Samsung's mobile payments service, aptly called Samsung Pay, has now morphed into a comprehensive solution called Samsung Wallet. It covers everything from payments to digital identity, digital keys, and now, even stablecoins.

For users in the United States, Samsung Wallet is much more than just a renamed Samsung pay app that lets them tap their phone at a payment terminal to make payments on the go. It's gradually becoming a place where Samsung lets you store your money, identity, keys, travel information, and a lot more.

All of this is intentional so that Samsung Wallet occupies a central role in your digital life, with the hope that once you can't live without it, you'd never think about shifting from a Galaxy device. The company's latest move makes that particularly obvious.

Samsung announced that from the end of October 2026, eligible Galaxy device owners in the United States will be able to use Samsung Wallet for USDC stablecoin transfers. This makes cross-border transfers very easy, as users will be able to send funds through USDC stablecoin to wallets and bank accounts in more than 60 countries.

What's notable here is that Samsung Wallet removes much of the friction that people who aren't particularly tech savvy have with crypto transfers. There's no need to use another crypto app or manage private keys. As long as you have USDC in Samsung Wallet, you can send it from within the app.

The team behind Samsung Wallet, particularly those who are expanding its functionality in the United States, deserve praise. They've been grinding in the background to make this a truly powerful platform.

Payments remain the foundation of Wallet, as your debit and credit cards can be stored and used to pay online, in stores, and in eligible apps.

Samsung Wallet also supports Tap to Transfer for US users, which lets you use a debit card stored in the Wallet for peer-to-peer transfers to someone else's bank account without requiring a separate app.

The Wallet platform is now so much more than just money. Its new Trips feature brings eligible travel tickets, event tickets and bookings into an organized timeline. Integrations with airlines like American Airlines offer a deeper Wallet integration with live boarding-pass updates such as gates, terminals, flight information and seat details.

Digital keys have been available in Samsung Wallet for a while now, including for cars. Some of the world's leading brands, including Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, BMW, GM, and others let you store digital keys for your cars in the app, which can be used for lock, unlock, and start functions.

Identity is now central to the Wallet experience. Th app supports digital ID options in the US, including mobile driver licenses, institutional IDs, and even CLEAR support for a faster airport security experience.

When viewed in isolation, none of these features individually changes how much you'd rely on the Wallet app. But when viewed together, they most certainly do.

It securely holds the things that normally live in your pockets and on your keychain when you leave home in the morning. Your bank cards, car keys, driver's license, and house keys are all there.

The company's decision to reduce friction around crypto within the app is notable. It already allows Coinbase users in the United States to use Samsung Wallet for funding their accounts.

This means users don't have to link their payment methods to the crypto platform as they can securely fund the account using the payment methods they already have saved in Wallet.

Native stablecoin capability built around simplifying cross-border transactions is just what the platform needed. As the saying goes, build it and they will come. It's quite likely that this new feature will now make the Samsung Wallet platform more appealing to more people in the United States.
