It's been known for a while now that Samsung has an affordable clamshell foldable phone in the pipeline that may be launched as the Galaxy Z Flip FE. It made sense why the company would use this brand to launch the device.
The FE or ‘Fan Edition' is associated with competitively priced devices that offer flagship-level functions with few compromises, such as the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 FE and S10 FE+, and others. However, rumors have once again surfaced that Samsung may call the device the Galaxy Z Flip Xe instead.
A report's been circulating today that claims the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE may be called the Galaxy Z Flip Xe instead. The information is based on the model number SM-F761, which we know to be of the affordable clamshell flagship, being listed by a carrier on its eSIM compatibility page as the Galaxy Z Flip Xe.
However, this is not the first time the Galaxy Z Flip Xe name has popped up. The SM-F761 has been listed in the official GSMA IMEI database as the Galaxy Z Flip Xe since late last year. That database is a far more reliable source than whatever carrier's page the recent report is based on.
It's entirely likely that the carrier listed the device as the Galaxy Z Flip Xe on it page simple because that's what it's named in GSMA's database. Just because it's mentioned in the database doesn't mean that name is set in stone.
Samsung can launch the device as whatever it wants, the Galaxy Z Flip FE or Z Flip Xe. Not that it matters much, if the device is a solid value proposition that delivers a great user experience at a competitive price, who cares what it's called?
