LG has announced the QNED and QNED Mini LED TV lineups for 2024. The company hasn’t unveiled all the models it will launch in these lineups or the specifications of the upcoming TVs. Expect that to happen during CES 2024, which will take place from January 9 – 12, 2024. For now, LG has revealed three upcoming models: QNED90, QNED85, and QNED80. Plus, it has outlined the major changes that the upcoming TVs will offer.
The company has also mentioned a bunch of features for the upcoming TVs that are already present in the existing models but we will not discuss that. We’ll just focus on the new technologies and features. Let’s take a look.
According to LG, the 2024 QNED and QNED Mini LED TV models will be available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 86-inch, and 98-inch sizes. Both, the QNED and QNED Mini LED lineups will feature LCD panels. However, the latter will have the Mini LED technology, offering a better contrast ratio. According to LG, the QNED models will have local dimming, whereas, the QNED Mini LED model will have the Precision Dimming technology. The company hasn't revealed any other panel-related features.
The upcoming QNED and QNED Mini LED TV models will feature the α8 AI Processor, which, according to LG, offers 1.6x faster processing speed, 2.6x faster graphics performance, and 1.3x faster AI performance (compared to the processor used in its current TV models). That should help those TVs to offer faster and smoother performance throughout the UI, as well as better picture enhancement capabilities.
LG TVs have been offering support for Apple AirPlay 2 for quite some time now, which allows people to project content from their Apple devices to external displays. However, TVs from LG have been missing Chromecast, a feature that lets people project content from their Android and ChromeOS devices to external displays.
That, fortunately, will be changing next year. LG says that the 2024 QNED and QNED Mini LED TV models will come with support for Chromecast, which will be a huge relief for Android and ChromeOS users. If the existing TVs from the brand have the hardware to support this feature, we hope that LG extends Chromecast to those models.
LG has announced the webOS Re:New program. Under this program, the company will offer software updates for five years to a webOS TV. In the press release, LG says “This notable offer comes to LG QNED Mini LED 8K models launched in 2022 (QNED99 and QNED95 series) and will be extended to additional models in the QNED TV lineup worldwide in the future.”
LG will showcase the upcoming QNED and QNED Mini LED TVs at CES 2024. Expect the company to announce prices and availability details of the upcoming TVs at the event.
