Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy A55. This update isn't interesting by itself – it just brings the March 2025 security patch to the phone. It's interesting because it may be the precursor to the One UI 7 (Android 15) beta update.
Samsung recently announced a list of devices that are getting the One UI 7 beta this month, and the two devices that have already received the beta—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6—were updated with the March 2025 security patch a day prior.
That pattern could repeat itself for the Galaxy A55, but the chances may be slimmer than we would like. See, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 got the March update in Korea, one of the countries where the beta is available. The Galaxy A55's March update is rolling out in Europe, where Samsung will not be releasing the One UI 7 beta for any of these devices.
As always, all we can do is wait and hope for the best. Samsung plans to start the official One UI 7 rollout in early April, and time is running short for the company to be able to do that without serious delays (unless the early April timeline only applies to the Galaxy S24 series).
For now, you can grab the March 2025 security update (build number A556BXXS6AYB4) from your Galaxy A55's Settings » Software update menu. You can also download the latest Galaxy A55 firmware from SamMobile.
