While Samsung decisively remains the leader in smartphones across various key markets, the company finds itself in third place on the list of companies leading the global truly wireless audio segment, which includes products like wireless earbuds.
Meanwhile, Apple remains comfortably ahead, with a 23.3% global market share, over twice that of Xiaomi, which now sits in second place with an 11.5% share of the market.
The latest data from market research firm Canalys shows that Samsung is in third place on the list with a 7.1% market share. It shipped 5.6 million units of wireless audio products, and that includes JBL products, the brand that Samsung owns through its Harman subsidiary.
Xiaomi shipped 9 million units in Q1 2025, almost double that of Samsung. Apple remains in the lead by a wide margin, shipping 18.2 million units this past quarter. Huawei came behind Samsung in fourth place with 4.7 million units shipped and a 6% market share.
The global wireless audio market saw its shipments grow 18% in Q1 2025 compared to the same period last year. This suggests healthy demand in the market and more room to grow for the players competing in it.
Samsung did ship 8% more units in Q1 2025 compared to Q1 2024, but its year-over-year growth pales in comparison to Xiaomi's 63% jump, primarily attributed to its stellar performance in markets across Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and parts of Europe.
The Korean giant recently acquired several audio brands through Harman, including premium player Bowers & Wilkins, which may see Samsung growing further in it market, particularly in the high-end segments, in the coming quarters.
