According to the latest numbers, Samsung is India's biggest TV brand. The South Korean company witnessed pretty good growth in 2024 compared to the previous year. It managed to dethrone Xiaomi despite launching comparatively higher-priced TVs.
Let us have a detailed look at the numbers.
Samsung's market share in India's TV market was 16.1% in 2024, according to the latest figures from IDC. That is 35.9% higher than the previous year when the company's market share was 12.8% and it ranked second. This is a really good achievement, especially considering Samsung's TVs are, spec-for-spec, priced higher than TVs from Chinese brands.
You can look at the IDC chart in the image below.
LG, with a market share of 15.1%, was close second in terms of sales. Its sales grew more than Samsung's, but it couldn't catch up to its South Korean rival. Like Samsung, though, it defeated Xiaomi in TV sales. Xiaomi, which was the number one TV brand in India in 2023, dropped to the third rank. Its market share was 11.7%, which is a 10% drop compared to its numbers from 2023.
TCL was the fourth-biggest TV brand in India with an 8.4% market share. Its market share grew 21.1% compared to 2023. Sony's TV market share was 8.2%, a 26.9% rise compared to the previous year.
Overall, 12.1 million smart TVs were sold in India in 2024. That is an 8.6% improvement compared to 2023. IDC claims that sales of TVs sized 55 inches or higher improved by 43%, and that is where Samsung is focusing. Sales of TVs rose in the offline market to 66%, while 34% of sales happened via retail stores.
A few days ago, Samsung launched its 2025 TV linep in India, and you can read about all its new TVs, their features, and their pricing in this article.
