Samsung has announced a bunch of new TV lineups at CES 2025 today, including OLED, Neo QLED, The Frame, and The Frame Pro. Apart from new hardware, these TVs bring many new AI-powered features, part of Samsung Vision AI. We have already discussed features that make watching content easier and more immersive and the ones related to SmartThings but there’s more to the story. Samsung Vision AI also offers a couple of features that improve the picture quality: Auto HDR Remastering Pro and AI Mode. Let’s take a look.
In 2023, Samsung introduced Auto HDR Remastering, a feature that uses AI to analyse video that’s being played and make changes to it to enhances its brightness and colours to make it look like an HDR video. Well, Auto HDR Remastering Pro is an advanced version of that feature. Unfortunately, there’s no information about what improvements the new one offers.
In the press release, Samsung says that Auto HDR Remastering Pro “Analyzes content frame by frame, applying scene-adaptive color expansion for lifelike visuals and vibrant colors, even in dark scenes.” Maybe the new offers even better picture quality. The statement also suggests that the non-Pro version didn’t work with dark scenes but the Pro version does.
Coming to the AI Mode, Samsung says that it “Adaptively optimizes picture and sound through AI-based content recognition and TV area analysis for an optimal viewing experience in any setting.” So, turning on the AI mode will automatically adjust picture and sound setting to offer you the best experience, saving you from the hassle of adjusting things manually.
The story continues after the video…
At the moment, there’s no information if Samsung will expand Auto HDR Remastering Pro and Ai Mode to older TVs or not. Samsung has also mentioned 8K AI Upscaling Pro, Adaptive Sound Pro, and Color Booster Pro in the press release but those aren’t new features. Samsung had announced them earlier and they are already present in existing TV models.
